Getting quotes
Compare two or three movers and make sure each quote covers the same scope: packing, loading, transport, stairs or elevators, storage and delivery. Ask whether the price is an estimate or binding.

How to organize the logistics of getting yourself and your belongings to BC.

The move itself is a project with a fixed date. Most stress comes from three things: underestimating volume, misaligned dates between leaving and arriving, and unclear coverage if something is damaged. Planning each of those early removes most of the risk.
The overview
Compare two or three movers and make sure each quote covers the same scope: packing, loading, transport, stairs or elevators, storage and delivery. Ask whether the price is an estimate or binding.
Cross-border moves involve customs documentation and lists of goods. Interprovincial moves are usually simpler but still need clear dates. Ask the mover exactly what paperwork you must provide.
Completion, possession and lease dates rarely line up perfectly. Short-term storage and a few nights of temporary accommodation are common and worth budgeting for rather than improvising.
Ask what liability the mover carries, what it excludes, and whether additional coverage is available. Photograph valuables before packing and keep an inventory.
Many apartments and stratas require booking an elevator and moving within set hours. Confirm this at both ends well before moving day.
